Conditions of Entry: FIG Series

The FYCA General Regulations as amended where applicable by these Conditions of Entry will apply to all races in the Series. Sailing Instructions for each race are issued by the organising club.

The FIG Series is open to all yachts whose owners are members of FYCA affiliated clubs. Entry is automatic as soon as a yacht enters a FIG event.

There will be fast (Div 1) and slow (Div 2) handicap and cruiser (Div 3) divisions in the Series. The handicap split will be :- Division 1< 975 Division 2>= 975* and will be based on handicaps issued by the FYCA in the current year.

* The handicap split may be altered at the discretion of the FYCA Committee.

Div 3 has been added to the FIG series to encourage the smaller fin & bilge keel yachts to participate in the FIG series.
Yachts in this category will compete in the Division 2 FIG races using their FYCA standard published handicaps or, if unavailable, a Trial Number handicap allocated by the host club .
Div 3 class results will be calculated & published by the FYCA independent of the host club.
Div 3 class yachts may opt to compete with or without a spinnaker in any race and may make the decision at any time including during the race . Div 3 yachts must inform the FIG series co-ordinator if they did not use a spinnaker and will then be granted an additional +4% handicap allowance, otherwise they will be assumed to have used one. (The handicap allowance of +4% can only be claimed if no spinnaker or cruising chute and only one headsail has been used at any time in the race.)
The initial FIG series handicap for a Div 3 Class yacht will be its current achieved performance in the FYCA Yacht Performance Database. Thereafter its handicap will be tracked using a Rolling Handicap (RH) system.
Div 3 results will be based on the Rolling Handicap (RH) system. The achieved performance of each Div 3 yacht will be calculated and its RH will shift 25% from its current RH towards its achieved performance. Capping limits of +/-10% shall apply.

Scoring - The Low Point Scoring System - Rule A2 of the Racing Rules of Sailing will apply. Each boat’s Series score will be the sum of her best 4 scores in the Series remaining scores being discarded. 4 races must be completed for the Series to be valid. (Subject to review by the FYCA)
Race entry forms and fees must be submitted to Host Clubs. Additionally Div 3 entrants must send an entry form to the FYCA preferably by using the email form available here. A printable entry form can be downloaded here and sent to the address shown on the form.
